A very recently discovered diamond
The Blue Moon diamond was discovered in January 2014, in the Premier mine, close to the town of Cullinan in South Africa. A month later, Cora International LLC bought the rough diamond of 29.62 carats for $25.6 million. In June 2014, after several months of observation, the intense blue coloured diamond was cut into a 12.03 carat cushion diamond. In November 2015, it was auctioned in Geneva, for $48.4 million. Since September 2014, it is exhibited in the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.
